What is Marijuana?

Marijuana is also known as cannabis, and originates from the Cannabis sativa (hemp) plant. Marijuana has played a significant role in human development for centuries. Our ancestors used it for hundreds of years for fiber (hemp), seed oils, seed, medical treatment, and recreational activities. Ancient archaeological caves demonstrate cannabis has had a long and distinguished connection with humans. Proof of the use of marijuana is found in medieval Germany where it was a well-known medicine. Currently, cannabis has three physically recognizable subspecies: sativa, indica, and ruderalis.

The cannabis plant has more than 104 cannabinoids. All of these compounds occur naturally and can be extracted and used for different purposes. THC and CBD are the most prominent compounds found in the cannabis plant. THC can create euphoric sensations while CBD offers a broad scope of wellbeing and health advantages to its user.
Despite the illegality of cannabis in most countries, it is still widely used in different parts of the world for either medicinal or recreational purposes.

Cannabidiol (CBD)

CBD is an organic cannabinoid chemical that originates from the hemp plant, differing from other cannabinoids, CBD is non-psychoactive, which means it doesn’t make you high. But it has numerous health advantages which are done through communicating with your immune system’s organic endocannabinoid system.
CBD has become a widely used medication around the world due to its potential medicinal advantages and its non-psychoactive ability.

Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC)

Delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) is another primary component found in the marijuana plant. Many individuals highly use THC due to its psychotropic potential. THC is responsible for inducing the “high” which is loved by most recreational cannabis users.

The positive effects of THC include its ability to stimulate appetite and make you more relaxed. It also regulates mood, increases cognition, perception and reduces aggression. THC is considered as a health remedy for people suffering from chronic pain, insomnia, depression, PTSD, epilepsy, and more.
